How to Join a First Aid Certification Course

January 21st, 2010

 Powered by Max Banner Ads

If you have a helping tendency and want to be of assistance to the needy persons, then the good thing you can do is to equip yourself with training in first aid and get a certificate from the appropriate authority. This will give you the additional confidence and the means to be of use to the other person, especially in case of emergencies, and can help in saving a person’s life in such circumstances.

To get a certificate in first aid, all you need to do is to allocate some of your precious time to attend the classes and also a little amount of your pocket money, not exceeding 50 dollars at the max, towards the fees for the course.

There are two options for getting trained in first aid. You can opt to attend the classes conducted by the institute. Or else, you can also get trained through online certification courses offered by some companies, where you can learn the basics at your pace and leisure from the comfort of the home. Each of the two methods has its own merits and demerits.

The premier institutions that offer first aid courses and also award certificates for having completed the course include the American Red Cross and the American Health Association. Apart from these, many other institutions, hospitals, and non-government voluntary organizations offer courses on First Aid.

All you need to do is to inquire about the classes in the local chapter of American Red Cross or similar voluntary organization about the courses and enroll there at your convenient time. The experienced instructors will teach the basics in theory and also demonstrate the activities practically. No special preparation or qualification is required to attend first aid courses. You need not even carry pen or paper to note down the points. All you need to carry with you to the classes is your attention and motivation to learn the skill and be prepared to help people in case of emergency.

On successful completion of course and clearing the examination, you will be awarded a certificate for first aid course, which will give you the courage to be of use in emergency and save a person’s life.

There are different types of First Aid Certificates such as; Health Care Provider CPR, BLS CPR Course, Basic First Aid Course, Blood Borne Pathogens Course, and Adult CPR Course. Now the question you might ask is, how long long can it take to obtain a CERT?

The term “accreditation” is an often-misunderstood term in the CPR industry. No organization exists that provides a national endorsement or accreditation to any CPR course provider. The American Heart Association cannot approve, endorse, or give accreditation for CPR training for any other organization.

Each first aid certification provider is free to construct their own curriculum, standards, and teaching methods based on the ECC/ILCOR guidelines. American Academy of CPR & First Aid, Inc, courses strictly follow the ECC/ILCOR guidelines.

Cheap and FREE CNA training

January 20th, 2010

Courses for CNA training can be very expensive but there are cheaper alternatives that are just as good. First of all, check your local community college for any training, this may be obvious but there are many cheap courses there. The college must be an approved college or you could be paying out for a qualification that isn’t going to get you anywhere as a CNA nurse. This shouldn’t be too hard to obtain from the college, so I recommend that you do this first. You won’t be able to test or trial any courses before you start and that means payment is up front. This may not necessarily be a lump sum but may be in the form of instalments.

If you are looking for cheap CNA training then you have come to the right place, the American Red Cross offer very affordable training. To qualify for this programme you will need to contact your local chapter and they will help sort this out. The nursing programme on offer will last for around five weeks and requires multiple characteristics such as confidence, dedication, self belief and commitment. Make sure that the course you are on is state approved and at the end of the day you will get certificate that is recognised in the nursing industry. All courses should be taught by state approved nurses.

Here is the part you have been waiting for, the FREE training. Yes there are in fact free training courses for CNA nurses, these will usually take places at nursing homes. There is always a catch though, in turn for the free training you must work for them for free. Both clinical and classroom training is performed on location and you could be fully qualified in a year. Of course this may not be the best option for you considering you will need to have another job to earn money to live. This may seem scary but on the job training can be a great way to qualify and from the start you are exposed to real life patients. The most efficient way to get involved and sign up with a nursing home is to phone them up and see if they have any openings.

Importance of Positive Attitude & Positive Thinking

January 8th, 2010

”First You Make an Attitude Then Attitude Makes You”

Positive attitude can do wonders. It can make possible what is seemingly impossible for the others. There is an intimate link between success & positive attitude. Your mind is a machine of thoughts and ideas. If you so not fill it up with positive, inspiring and motivating thoughts, it will turn into a jungle of negative thoughts.

people with a negative attitude have a hard time keeping friendships, jobs and relationships. They create a negative environment at home and work and become a liability to society. There is something positive in every person and every situation. Sometimes we have to dig deep to look for the positive because it may not be apparent.

Self-esteem is the way we feel about ourselves. When we feel good within, our performance goes up, relationships improve both at home and at work. The world looks nicer. There is a direct correlation between feeling and behavior. Whenever people succeed in life, petty people will take cracks at them and try to pull them down. In order to fight petty people, you have to come down to their level. Don’t let negative people drag you down. When you refuse to fight petty people, you win. Remember, a person’s character is not only judged by the company he or she keeps but also by the company he or she avoids.

Effective work-life organization for an employed mother

December 24th, 2009

Juggling between more than two jobs is a difficult task but not impossible. For those women who are not strong headed, it is very essential, they prioritize their activities. In order to have a stable, organized and systematic work-life, it is very necessary to list down the details of people, places and events which would demand their time.

While changing gears from being a mom to being an employee, a woman should not experience any kind of ‘mother guilt’. Though you belong to both the places, it is very important to keep both work and home separate. When at work, a mother should exude confidence in all the official meetings. This is ensured only if you have supportive family and friends who would be ready to take care of your children. If there is a need, then you should ensure that you have some domestic help for the household chores. But once at work, you should be able to give 100% attention to work. The organization, employer, colleagues and sub-ordinates should not feel that your mind is occupied by innumerable things related to your personal life. This, otherwise, can adversely affect your career.

When you don the mantle of an employee, work can be made less complicated if the employers are timely informed about your personal commitments and drawbacks. For example, if you have to pick up your children at 6 in the evening from classes, the organization should not unknowingly arrange a meeting at the same time. Moreover, you can make use of the sick days for your children. One can always trade off with your spouse to divide the total work between two people. This way you will not even end up complaining about your spouse.

When you have given stipulated time to work, a mother needs to be sure she gives enough time to her children, too, especially in their growing years. She should shell out some time for the parent teacher meetings, celebrations of different occasions or even for vacations. Some important tips that can prevent you from facing any disaster are those of maintaining a calendar which mentions the official and personal engagements. This will help you estimate the time that you have in your hands for other tasks like socializing or shopping. It is best to use the modern technology to be able to fulfill the duties of a mother and wife at home. Because you have chosen to tread the difficult path, you must be determined that you leave no stone unturned to make your work-life effective. However, you should ensure that you put in the correct hours for different kind of commitments.

Mobile becomes a handy device to store all the important events. Some websites like Sendible.com help send timely greetings to your friends and families on special occasions, leaving you without any hassle of memorizing the dates. In case of emergency situations, as a mother you should note down the contact details, numbers and procedures which are accessible to all at home. And you should also make sure you have them available in office hours in your mobile or computer. Definitely, the advanced technology will help you take a sigh of relief and relax.

A woman with children, parents and in-laws is bound to play multiple roles. However, in order to win the insurmountable challenge, it would be highly appreciated if she gets some moral support from her immediate circle of relatives which would act as a motivation for her. Thus, if given a chance it is not at all difficult managing the dual roles of a great mom and a valuable employee.

10 Job Search Rules to Break

December 23rd, 2009

If you are anything like me, and I’m sure there are a lot of you out there, I’m stuck in the Stone Age when it comes to job searching. Let’s face it, old school methods can die out.  Once again on Yahoo hot jobs in the column titled “The Savvy Networker”, author Liz Ryan gives 10 old school resume myths that just don’t make the cut anymore.  Since I started reading Liz’s articles I have altered my resume and am feeling pretty good about myself.  I just implemented the changes so I am waiting to see results, but at least I have a little more confidence.  Listed below are the “10 Job Search Rules to Break This Minute”. Just so everyone is clear, this is a list of myths and you should do the opposite.

1.       Never use “I” in your resume.

2.      Never make it obvious (on LinkedIn, for instance) that you’re job-seeking.

3.      Your cover letter should be conversational, while your resume should be formal.

4.      If you can reach an HR person inside the company, you’re ahead of the game

5.      When you’re asked for salary requirements, quote the lowest number you can.

6.      In a job interview, talk as much of the time as you can.

7.      On a job interview, make sure the interviewer knows you’re perfect for the job.

8.      Ask the interviewer, “Can I have the job?”

9.      Wait until the job offer is extended before discussing salary.

10.  Only go after jobs that look perfect for you, on paper.

Of Course there is more details involved with this list, but it is not my objective to take the authors thunder and of course with her experience is a much better writer than I am.  I wanted to share this with you to strike interest in hopes that it inspires you the way it inspired me.
