Apply For a Job Now!

January 13th, 2010

Apply for a job now and get a leg up on the procrastinators. The 2010 year promises more of the same from 2009. The recession is not going to go away anytime soon. Time is of the essence if you truly want to solidify a position with some of these hard to get a job companies or areas. The pharmacy tech job is one job that I will be concentrating on this year. The United States health reform bill is going to extend insurance to some 1 million people that did not have it the year before. That will equate to more than 1 million prescriptions being filled this year that were not filled in 2009.

The Pharmacy tech job is the job that is the most obtainable in the field. There are some courses to take, but it is not degree type demanding. The salaries start in the area of about $14.00 per hour on the low end. The most remarkable thing about a job in pharmaceuticals as a tech, is that the job will also accompany for the most part a placement period in which the technical-vocational schools attempt to place you into a position with some of the more prominent and well known pharmacies. Pharmacies like Target Super Centers, Walgreens, Walmart, Eckerd Drugs, CVS pharmacies and many more. Additionally, do not discard or forget the mom and pop drug stores.

The key is to apply for a job now, do not wait. Nothing in life that is worth while comes easy, that includes a well paying job, which is more magnified in a rough economic recession like the one we are navigating through right now. Stay focused and get your job now.

In many cases it has been seen that one partner in a married couple is in government job and other at good position in private sector but at different location. It is very difficult to do job in such cases as government jobs in India although are transferable but it takes much time. Whereas if you are in private sector then you can very easily leave the job and get it in a new company and location and probably at better position and with higher salary.

TIPS ON FINDING A JOB DURING RECESSION

November 12th, 2009

Economic recession means shortages of jobs. More and more people are being laid off because many companies go on bankrupt thus unable to sustain and maintain operational cost. For those who lost their jobs, it means a struggle for daily sustenance of one’s needs. This is a fight for survival.

Here are a few tips finding a job during recession:
1. Check out previous employers. Contact them as there could be job openings and they may want to re-hire you. Many jobs are not listed on paper. They are simply by word of mouth. So going around and visiting some old friends may be a lot helpful.
2. Read the newspaper. There are jobs being posted everyday. Your skill may suit one of those openings and you may want to try it by submitting your resume’ or more so visiting the company and apply personally.
3. Keep on applying. There is no harm in trying. As we say, the more the merrier. It increases your chances of being chosen and hired. There are more chances of being hired if you have forwarded your application to as many companies as you could. Some tips on finding a job during recession would be to make yourself readily available and then keep on exposing yourself to as many employers as you can. And if there will be two or more employers who will be interested in hiring you, then you can start bargaining for your compensation and benefits.
4. Make follow ups. Should no one from those whom you submitted your application respond, then make a courtesy call following up on the status of your application. Making a follow up is also a good indication that you are interested in the job.
5. Go places. Employment is not limited to your locality. This is considering the fact that you are willing to travel and relocate. Relocating involves some considerations especially for married people as this will have a great impact on the family and the children. An open and thorough discussed will be needed between husband and wife regarding this issue. Both parties should agree to make some little sacrifices once they decide to relocate. Remember that what is highly at stake in here is the welfare and security of the whole family.
6. Seek help from the government for recession proof jobs. Recession proof jobs are administrative assistant positions in the government. These are not high paying jobs but these are secured ones. Health care personnel, nurses, therapists, software engineers, these are a few jobs which the government can offer. These jobs are secured though the salary may not be as high as those in the private sector.
7. Undergo Training skills. You have to equip yourself. You have to consider a primary skill, secondary skills, and other skills which are needed in the market.

To find a job during recession is manna in the desert. Once you find it, cherish it. It may not be the most beautiful job you could ever ask and hope for but what is important is you have the means to sustain your daily needs. Hopefully, the discussion above on the tips on finding a job during recession can assist you and give some guidance. Happy job hunting then!

Want to Start a Successful Career? The Two Most Important Documents You Will Ever Write

October 29th, 2009

Starting a successful career doesn’t come easy by any means these days.  Due to the current economic recession, finding lucrative jobs is like finding a needle in a haystack.  Fortunately, there are things that can be done to help this, and it all starts with the basics.  These basics are the resume and the cover letter.  These documents alone can open the door to an interview, which can help lead to a promising career.

Your resume is a key tool in helping you market yourself to an employer.  Your resume should be attention-grabbing, and “good enough” is not likely to be good enough in a competitive job market.  The main purpose of the resume is to convince an employer that you might be a good candidate for the job and to entice the employer to give you a closer look through an interview.  Crafting your resume is important to present you in the best possible light.  As you start forming your resume, you have to keep in mind that the typical employer will not read it word for word, but rather just skim the document.  It is extremely important to tailor your resume to each job and organization, for each job and organization has different wants and needs.   Understanding the basics of the resume is vital, meaning that it should be one page in length, no special fonts or colors, and should really highlight your experience and qualifications.  Once the basics are complete, it is important to focus on other traits that can make your resume “stand out” above the rest of the pack.

Researching your future employer is very important for your resume because it needs to be tailored to the specific job or organization you are applying for.  Using the job description as the primary basis for the resume can help, but also look over the organization’s website to better understand what is needed for the position.  Include words and phrases that will reflect those of the job description and company information.  You also need to think carefully about your qualifications and how they meet the needs of a specific job and organization.  Make note of examples that can demonstrate specific skills so that you can use those in your cover letters, which will be discussed later.

When it comes to resumes, style and substance is important to grabbing the reader’s attention.  Presentation and form can speak volumes to potential employers.  If it is disorganized or sloppy, it will show that not much care was put into constructing resume, and would mostly likely be dismissed from the rest of the candidates.  There are some variations, but the typical new grad resume follows the basic format: objective, education, contact information, experience, activities, and awards or honors if you have them.  Breaking your resume into experiences that are related to the job will help being chosen above the other candidates, and be sure to include examples.

The cover letter is also an important tool that should be used to enhance your candidacy.  Regardless of whether it is required, it should be included because it’s one more opportunity to get an employer’s attention.  The cover letter should be concise; approximately four paragraphs, and should be designed to get the reader to consider your resume.  Much like the resume, the cover letter should be tailored to the specific job or organization you are applying to.  It is extremely important to include examples that demonstrate specific skills important to the job.  You want to be precise, but you also want to save the elaboration for the interview.

The cover letter should follow a certain outline, much like the resume.  It is important to explain your purpose, identify the position you are interested in, and how you learned about the job.  Outlining your best traits or strongest qualifications for the job is vital, and make sure it is close to the job you are applying for.  Reiterating your resume in your cover letter is not the right direction, but strengthening the connection between your qualifications and experiences is the right path.  At the end, it is important to give the information necessary if he/she would like to follow up with you in advance.

Constructing your resume and cover letter are the first steps toward working for an employer.  Even if you think it is perfect, have it critiqued by some friends or teachers.  It is possible you could get insight that will help you strengthen and police your documents.  Make the first step count with a resume and cover letter that captures the employer’s attention and gets you the interview. Your successful career awaits you!
