What is Involved With a Career in Travel Nursing

Becoming a registered nurse has many advantages as well as the gratitude felt from helping others. Working as a nurse has changed over the years and it is no longer simply finding a job in a hospital or nursing home. The careers in nursing are virtually limitless. Travel nursing is an exciting option; however, there are many things to consider before taking the position.

If you are outgoing and thrive on meeting lots of new people, this is a perfect position for you. With a career in travel nursing you can meet people from all walks of life as well as experience how other countries operate in the medical field.

Another excellent benefit with traveling is the option of choosing your preferred climate. If you currently live in a state with horrible winters and are desperate to find warmth in the winter, you have a choice to choose sunny places to work.

The traveling can feel brutal at times so you have to really enjoy traveling. The assignment lengths vary for each job but overall you will be changing locations that could include other countries, approximately every three months or less. To some the extensive traveling can be exhausting so it is important to enjoy it but take care of you in the process.

While you are on an assignment you must be on time to work. It will be tempting to visit the area where you have been assigned and you do have the opportunity, but it must be done on your on time and not when you should be at work. The location you have been assigned to needs your full focus and time.

Though you may come across a lot of new faces, there will be times when you feel alone. You are in a new place with family and friends still at home. This can be overwhelming for some so be prepared to spend a vast amount of time alone.

Also take into consideration your spouse or children. They should be okay with you being gone for long periods of time. This type of work can be hard on relationships so you should make your family aware of the requirement needed for the position.

The rewards will outweigh the sacrifices for many choosing this career. This position takes extreme concentration and focus as well as the desire to do extensive traveling. The money is amazing but you will have to most definitely give up some of the family time.

If this is a career you think might interest you, go online and search for agencies specializing in travel nursing. There are many agencies that hire for this type of position but make sure the company is a reliable agency before agreeing to a position. The agency is responsible for the travel expenses and should be clarified as to amount prior to accepting a location. This form of work can be extremely exciting and rewarding so if you are just completing your degree or have been at it a while, consider the options available.

As you can see, there are many different aspects involved with travel nurse jobs and the medical field in general. Another profession that is highly sought after are nurse practitioner jobs in hospitals and other healthcare facilities.Article Source:http://www.articlesbase.com/careers-articles/what-is-involved-with-a-career-in-travel-nursing-1782778.html

Hiring An SLP For Your School

January 15th, 2010

The study of language and human communication is a valued and worthy science. However, the people who diagnose and help to treat difficulties or challenges in communication are called speech language pathologists. An SLP is specifically trained to diagnose speech issues at an early stage. That’s why they are so important in schools.

The career path of SLPs starts with their education. Both speech pathologists and audiologists must have a certain number of courses under their belts. Typically they will learn about anatomy, acoustics and linguistics, as well as courses on counseling and parent training. They study phonetics and focus on learning about speech disorders, while also having a strong education in neurology and psychology.

A certified SLP will have training in clinical situations and settings, as well as in schools. They must spend quite a bit of time under the guidance and tutelage of a mentor in their field. With experienced help, they learn all the skills they need to help them in their future career helping others.

Speech language pathologists assess hearing, speech and language. They are involved in the prevention, identification, diagnosis and treatment of both children and adults. They educate the public and their client base on hearing impairments and communication disorders. An SLP will provide consultative advice to a team of otherwise focused professionals or they can offer more direct treatment services.

An SLP in a school setting knows that children are best assessed at the earliest age possible. Most school children are assessed in kindergarten either one on one or in groups in an informal and brief test. This first assessment test may last only five minutes, and usually involves having the child or children say their name, pronounce the names of certain items and answer open ended questions. This test is usually just to evaluate articulation, language fluency, and several other aspects of speech.

If it is found that a child needs further assessment or testing, the next phase is for the SLP in the school setting to spend about two hours with a child, one on one. The next test will include a physical examination of the mouth and throat and other parts involved in verbal communication. Use of sentences and words will be tested, as well as seeing how the child produces sounds in general. This longer visit will include tests for expressive and spontaneous language, as well as a hearing test.

As an SLP learns a child’s particular case history and diagnoses the reasons behind why a child is having a communication challenge, they will discover the best method of treating the child. This will involve the family and the school as well as the child themselves. A good speech language pathologist knows that a challenge identified early on for a child is a challenge the child can be taught to overcome. With help from teachers, parents and other critical social systems, the child may regain or develop successful communication skills.

An SLP placed in the school system can help identify challenges with communication, language and speech disorders early on. Given the nature of their strong education and certification requirements, they come very highly trained and experienced already. In countries like Canada, one in ten citizens is living with a communication disorder. Early diagnosis and personal treatment options are the best way to resolve language and speech disorders. This is exactly what an SLP is trained for and prepared to do in a school.

January 10th, 2010

Jobs can be categorized as,

“WE LIKE DO IT” or

“WE DOING IT as NO OPTION”

But any way some occupation is the only way to survive in the selfish world. So many people might don’t know but HELPING OTHERS is a occupation without considering money. It is good ambition but today life, those people won’t stand a chance in

THE RACE within humans.

We need some kind of door way to earn money not for the benefit of one of us, but the whole community could get a better future from our occupation. We have families, friends, relations they all can’t afford their needs by just helping others. In my point of view I would certainly not recommend selfishness, but it just not fit with today.

But god has blessed us that human have many occupation ways to enter the Race called ‘living in the society’. But our people don’t understand it. The internet like is giving us everything in a split second. It has also opened us a door way to earning money.

ALWAYS remember doing a job or serve somebody is a great responsibility. If you are not to have that responsibility then BE OFF!

People who give this job opportunity is also expecting who good with taking responsible action. Those people have the one way ticket to success in their life. Some jobs are using internet mainly more tan hard work. These are called ONLINE JOBS OPPERTUNITIES”. In my side of view this is the most suitable way to earn money, who likes to stay in their house. Some people (names are not using) make more than 1millian dollars from their home.

Getting into Sports Medicine – StudentScholarships.org

January 2nd, 2010

When the question of one’s dream job is asked, many people have elaborate answers filled with extravagant things and most of all millions upon millions of dollars.

However, for me, that is not the case. My dream job arose from a simple arthroscopic knee surgery that my younger sister had done about five years ago. Following the completion of my sister’s knee surgery, she had to begin physical therapy to regain full motion and use of her left knee. For some reason, I decided to tag along with her to one of the therapy sessions and the rest, as they say, is history.

That physical therapy session totally captivated me and changed my whole life goal. For as long as I can remember I always wanted to be a pediatrician, but after getting involved in sports and going to my sister’s physical therapy sessions, I knew I had another calling that I just could not deny. Since the age of 13, basketball became my life and after several ankle and knee injuries, I found myself spending many of practices in the athletic training room. Combining my passion for sports and intrigue for athletic rehabilitation, I finally came up with the job I would consider a dream.

My dream would be to obtain a B.S. in Biology or Exercise Science/Kinesiology and then pursue a M.D. in Sports Medicine. With this educational background and a lot of scholarships in sports medicine, I hope to culminate my dream by becoming the head team physician for a professional basketball team and hopefully become the first African-American female athletic trainer/physician for a team in the National Basketball Association.

My dream job may not seem as intricate as others, but my love for sports and helping others runs extremely deep; and finding a career that can combine the two would be a dream for me.

StudentScholarships.org is the only website you need if you are searching for sports medicine scholarships.

Early Childhood Education as a Career

November 24th, 2009

My dream job is teaching early childhood education and opening my own daycare center. I have always had a desire to teach children and help them develop their own ability to gain knowledge. I enjoy the sense of accomplishment that comes with watching children grow and learn. My desire is to help each child develop the ability to think and process information in a unique and effective way. The ability to draw your own conclusions from new information is priceless and my dream job is to help children develop that for themselves. I believe children are an invaluable resource and should be allowed to grow to their full potential.

Even as a young child I enjoyed helping others learn things that would help them. I get pleasure from being able to see the faces of people when information transforms into knowledge. Knowing that it was possible because of something I have done is very rewarding. Young children need help to learn the information they need. They are not able to draw out what is relevant to them without help from educators, parents and friends. I get great satisfaction from being these things to the children that need them. Every child learns in different ways and I enjoy providing them with the means to develop their learning style by whatever means possible.

I hope to be able to open a small daycare center and teach preschool children. I would like to be the owner and operator of this center and determine the curriculum that will challenge the children and provide them with something new every day. Learning to read and write is just part of this. Things like respect for others and responsibility for your actions are staple concepts for a successful student and I feel that using these concepts with children helps them learn to use them on their own. I would love to teach these children and help them prepare for the education system they will enter when they are older. The more prepared a child is when they are young, the more likely it is they will do better in that system. I hope to instill in these children a love of learning so they will be more likely to continue learning throughout their lives.

Young children benefit from a fun, scheduled learning environment and I believe it is my duty to provide that. A balanced schedule of play and learning will help each child reach full potential. The schedule would be determined by the needs and abilities of each child. My goal in this center would be to develop an environment that is educationally, physically and emotionally sound.

Opening this center is my dream. It would enable me to do work that suits me perfectly while providing the children enrolled with the best start possible to their education. While I know it would be a lot of work, I know that no good thing comes without putting forth effort and I am willing to do that.
