How to Find a Legitimate Work at Home Opportunity

January 20th, 2010

The thought of working from home, setting your own hours, and being your own boss is something that is very appealing to people these days. Many individuals have families and in many cases both parents have to work so it is convenient to have one parent in the household that has a bit of latitude regarding their scheduling. Working from home will allow you to schedule your work around your other responsibilities such as your children’s extracurricular activities, doctor’s appointments, and running errands. Working from home will also give you more time to spend with your family which is something that many of us wish for these days. The problem with working from home is that for many people it is just a dream but that is not because those people can’t do it but rather because they approach the task of finding legitimate online work in the wrong way. In order to truly find a legitimate work at home opportunity there are a few things that you will want to keep in mind throughout your search in order to not become discouraged and give up. The kind of diligence and self discipline you will need when you begin working at home after all is the same as that you will need to perform a fruitful search. Follow these few simple guidelines and you will get the most out of your search and hopefully end up with a profitable work at home opportunity.

The first thing that you want to keep in mind when you are looking for a legitimate work at home opportunity is that if somebody is asking you for money in order to learn a certain secret to working from home it is most likely a scam. Looking for a job online is no different than looking for a job in a physical atmosphere. When you go to a job interview you are not asked for money and neither should you be when attempting to get a job online.

Second you want to keep in mind that if a job sounds too good to be true than it most likely is. If you are seriously looking for gainful employment online then the last thing you want is for your time to be wasted on a job that offers unrealistic promises. There are so many offers online that say you will make hundreds of dollars a day right from the start and this is hardly the case. Online work is something that you have to work hard at to make good money just like anything else.

Finally, you should always ask lots of questions before committing to something and wasting your valuable time on something that either isn’t for you or something that you won’t make enough money doing. The whole point of working online is to make money so don’t waste your time on something that doesn’t allow you to do that.

As long as you follow these few simple steps you should be working online in no time and having more time to do the things that you want to do.

The Interview Tips For Success – Grab that Lucrative Job

January 13th, 2010

After successfully completing your education, you will be keen to find a suitable job to suit your aspiration levels in terms of career, money, growth and social status. And so, you start sending out your resume and preparing yourself to gear up to face the job interview.

You would not get any accolade to attend an interview, be it for your entry level job or for middle level opening, but if you master the techniques written below, you will be definitely be a flying success.

Attending an interview is an experience encapsulated with brimming confidence, well mannered etiquette and passionate knowledge. There is no place for a dishevelled appearance. Interviewers are impressed with your above attributes. It is a common understanding that all the interviewees take the utmost care to get them acquainted with the information of companys’ products, their strengths, weaknesses, reputation, market standing etc. This definitely boosts the courage level of the interviewees who face the interview.

But apart from these, I also advocate that you collect information about the panel members of the interview committee. Every time this may not be feasible but by exploring various sources and avenues, if this information is possible to garner just before commencement of the interview, then interviewee is one step ahead. If you are able to know the traits of various types of the interviewers and how to handle them during the course of interview, the following tips will be useful to you.

1. The friendly: They will greet you with a smile, shower praises, joke and make you comfortable. They will talk a lot and make you at ease. You may be an Engineer with a specialization – say in Electronics. So, by becoming a friendly interviewer he may be hiding his particular knowledge or he will like to exert his pressure to open you up. Many interviewees commit mistakes seeing their friendly behaviour and open up too much amid the interview and in the process lose the chance to win the game. You may have to keep your patience and ensure to open up within the limit.

2. The pernickety: Interviewers are very wise and they will bombard you with questions for answers even for basic principles of any subjects. So, if you are not thorough with your subject knowledge, you will not be able to take the pressure.

3. The less attentive: These types of interviewers conduct interview in the midst of their routine functions. Time to time, their attention will be distracted with phone calls, visits of intruders, staff members etc. They will throw a bunch of questions very causally, without much emphasize. You have to somehow manage your courage to appraise your suitability for the vacancy and persuade him to focus his attention on your verbatim; otherwise, interview will be a farce.

4. The satiric: Interviewers will greet you with little jeer. They will pretend as if they are busy. For a fraction of a moment, they will forget that you have been called for an interview and will not invite you to sit. On your polite request for the same, they will simply nod. They will start with tricky questions and will stare at you with a satirical glance make you uncomfortable for eye to eye contact. You may have to build up your confidence level to play the game of attending this type of interview in his shoe that means your answers will be to the point and authentic, mixed with politeness and confidence.

5. The jumper: These types of interviewers will ask you number of staccato questions jumping from one after another without giving you much of a chance to answer. Their impulsive behaviour and showmanship will irritate you. But, very tactfully you have to handle the situation and if required, make him realize very courteously to give you little time to finish the reply for the first question, then the second one and likewise. Your polite assertiveness will force him to pause so that you are at ease to answer his questions. Further, this may give you a chance to show your skill to answer his various types of questions. But, you may have to avoid fumbling and numbness while being engulfed with the pressure of numerous questions.

6. The eccentric: These are less talkative, inquisitive, broad faced and an unpleasant type. Mostly you confront with this type in senior level interview. But at times based on the need, they become the interviewer even for GET level interview. By and large, their appearance ripples nervousness as soon as you enter the room albeit with your brimming confidence. They ask you point blank and mostly dichotomous.

They also prefer to have straight forward reply with statistics. Any kind of unwanted reply will fluster them. So, if you happen to be greeted by this type of interviewer, chances will be remote to satisfy them, but sometimes “lady luck” may rescue you.

When you understand the different types of interviewers, you can suitably adjust your approach and provoke your thought process in line with theirs, but of course, that does not come overnight. After attending a few interviews, courage and conviction levels go up and you will also be able to make a judgement to score the goal at the appropriate time that means you will be successful to be awarded with the job.

10 Job Search Rules to Break

December 23rd, 2009

If you are anything like me, and I’m sure there are a lot of you out there, I’m stuck in the Stone Age when it comes to job searching. Let’s face it, old school methods can die out.  Once again on Yahoo hot jobs in the column titled “The Savvy Networker”, author Liz Ryan gives 10 old school resume myths that just don’t make the cut anymore.  Since I started reading Liz’s articles I have altered my resume and am feeling pretty good about myself.  I just implemented the changes so I am waiting to see results, but at least I have a little more confidence.  Listed below are the “10 Job Search Rules to Break This Minute”. Just so everyone is clear, this is a list of myths and you should do the opposite.

1.       Never use “I” in your resume.

2.      Never make it obvious (on LinkedIn, for instance) that you’re job-seeking.

3.      Your cover letter should be conversational, while your resume should be formal.

4.      If you can reach an HR person inside the company, you’re ahead of the game

5.      When you’re asked for salary requirements, quote the lowest number you can.

6.      In a job interview, talk as much of the time as you can.

7.      On a job interview, make sure the interviewer knows you’re perfect for the job.

8.      Ask the interviewer, “Can I have the job?”

9.      Wait until the job offer is extended before discussing salary.

10.  Only go after jobs that look perfect for you, on paper.

Of Course there is more details involved with this list, but it is not my objective to take the authors thunder and of course with her experience is a much better writer than I am.  I wanted to share this with you to strike interest in hopes that it inspires you the way it inspired me.

Why You Deserve Senior Citizens Employment

December 17th, 2009

By Raymond Angus

Are you a senior, and are you actively searching for senior citizens employment?  Before you answer, think about it.

Sure you say!  I have in mind just the kind of job I want to get and I even know the names of some companies and individuals I want to work for.

Bravo!  But have you done your real homework?  Are you convinced, really convinced, that you’re the best qualified person to walk away from a job interview with a senior citizens employment offer in your pocket?

Have you prepared for every job interview?  Actually visualized going through the process of anticipating your answers to questions that will probably arise?  Why, you ask?  I know what I’m going to say.

While there is such a thing as over preparation.  Far worse than that is the opposite result, lack of practice.  Let me tell you a story!

Many years ago, back in the middle of the last century, one of the greatest batters in professional baseball was a tall, lean fellow named Ted Williams.  He was a super star, even before the description was used.

One day, early in the morning, even as the sun was just coming up, another ball player who was sharing a hotel room with Williams on a road trip woke up.

He saw Ted Williams in his pajamas standing in front of a full length
mirror, bat in hand watching his reflection swinging at imaginary pitches.

What are you doing, the fellow asked incredulously?  Hitting home runs, Williams answered taking another swing at an imaginary pitch.

Get the point?  The best performing individual at any line of endeavor stays on top with practice.  Preparation and practice may begin with the same letter of the alphabet, but they sure don’t mean the same thing.

You’ve taken your first step to nailing down your senior citizens employment.  You’ve selected the job of work that you absolutely want to have.  You have also taken the second key stride, you’ve made a list of several name businesses and individuals you are going to contact and interview with.

Now, prepare your written and oral presentation, and then stand up in front of your own personal mirror like Ted Williams did and make your delivery.  And then practice swinging the bat and hitting the imaginary ball again and again until it becomes your second nature.

Visualize hitting your own home run, getting a bona fide senior citizens employment offer.

Actually visualize yourself walking into the interviews one by one.  Picture what you’re going to wear and rehearse your opening greeting.  The wonderful thing about children at play is how real they get at make believe.  Recapture make believe and really feel yourself at an employment interview.

A very important key point to remember is this.  At the end of every visualized job interview, see and hear yourself being offered actual employment.

Make your personal senior citizens employment project the keystone of your day, every day.  It may take a while of time before it bears fruit. But it will happen.  You deserve success, you deserve seniors employment.
