Online CNA training

January 22nd, 2010

 Powered by Max Banner Ads

There is no need to study in a classroom to become a CNA nurse, instead you can study from the comfort of your own time. There is no quality difference between studying in class or at home, but one may be beneficial depending on how you learn.

One benefit from studying online is that it may be cheaper that enrolling in a community college. There are also multiple beneifts from studying online, it is a massive time saver as you would otherwise have to travel to the college. If the campus isn’t close at all this will save the student a lot of money which makes this much more affordable.

There are multiple websites online that offer this service but with every class you have to make sure that the course is authentic and at the end of the day you will receive a recognised qualification. Scams will always be online, ready to take your money, so make sure enough research is carried out so that you can be confident in your investment.

There are drawbacks to studying purely online, mainly the fact that you have no social interaction and can’t learn off your peers. Also only the written exam can be taught online, to learn the clinical exam this must be practiced in a class room. There is no way procedures, equipment, or bed side manner can be practiced online so going to a college or on the job teaching is a must.

These online classes can be great for current nurses that need to renew their licences, they will only focus on the written aspect which is fine as the nurse should be fully practiced at the clinical. Overall, online courses are a good option but to pass first time as a CNA nurse it will get you the full distance.

Cheap and FREE CNA training

January 20th, 2010

Courses for CNA training can be very expensive but there are cheaper alternatives that are just as good. First of all, check your local community college for any training, this may be obvious but there are many cheap courses there. The college must be an approved college or you could be paying out for a qualification that isn’t going to get you anywhere as a CNA nurse. This shouldn’t be too hard to obtain from the college, so I recommend that you do this first. You won’t be able to test or trial any courses before you start and that means payment is up front. This may not necessarily be a lump sum but may be in the form of instalments.

If you are looking for cheap CNA training then you have come to the right place, the American Red Cross offer very affordable training. To qualify for this programme you will need to contact your local chapter and they will help sort this out. The nursing programme on offer will last for around five weeks and requires multiple characteristics such as confidence, dedication, self belief and commitment. Make sure that the course you are on is state approved and at the end of the day you will get certificate that is recognised in the nursing industry. All courses should be taught by state approved nurses.

Here is the part you have been waiting for, the FREE training. Yes there are in fact free training courses for CNA nurses, these will usually take places at nursing homes. There is always a catch though, in turn for the free training you must work for them for free. Both clinical and classroom training is performed on location and you could be fully qualified in a year. Of course this may not be the best option for you considering you will need to have another job to earn money to live. This may seem scary but on the job training can be a great way to qualify and from the start you are exposed to real life patients. The most efficient way to get involved and sign up with a nursing home is to phone them up and see if they have any openings.

Dream Job … Reality or Myth?

January 18th, 2010

Dream Job … Reality or Myth?

RedStarResume posted this question to our readers. Here are your answers:

“It depends on what is the basis of somebody defines his/her dream job.. Is it learning, Money, Foreign trips, Brand Name etc. etc. According to me, its about identifying who you are, what your natural talents are and then getting into a job where you get to apply your talents on a day to day basis. In other words you have an opportunity to do best every day and you look forward to coming to work everyday. Therefore, there is something which an Individual has to do to get a dream job (identifying what is he looking for and what talents he brings on table) and then there is something which Organizations have to do (identify the talent, put him in a right role and give him a great manager) and you might land into a dream job”

“A dream job is one that makes you look forward for the Monday throughout the weekends, week after week, month after month & year after year”

“The phrase to ‘create a personally satisfying career path’ doesn’t sound as snappy but is probably more helpful. The idea of ‘finding your dream job’ makes several assumptions, each of which has its limitations:

1) There is only one job that would fit you – you may have many options and you can’t do them all

2) It already exists out there – you may have to invent it

3) You will stay the same forever – your priorities and talents will change over time

4) The job will stay the same forever – the nature of the job may change

  1. Sometimes the biggest problem is not ‘finding’ the job but recognizing it when you see it. Some people talk about a dream job as being something that has personal meaning. The question remains. Do you find a job that already has meaning or do you try to find the meaning in your job?”

“There is potential in every job, to be a dream job? Well, I think so. Any job can be a dream job through your attitude, gratitude, and choice. Are you a clerk at a bookstore? Are you a city garbage truck driver? or is it washing cars or fixing computers ? Maybe you love to mow people’s lawns. Well, there are no menial jobs; only menial attitudes. Choose a job you love and you’ll never have to work a day in your life and that is your dream job”

“Walking to work with a big smile on your face on a Monday morning in anticipation of the day and week ahead is probably a good indicator. I also think that the challenge once you’ve found it is to continue to appreciate it, to be able to walk away from it on a Friday or in the evenings and not to covet it too much. Otherwise the ‘Dream Job ‘may be fleeting”

“A dream job is one that you’ll do even if you’re not paid for it”

“A dream job is one in which you are able to utilize your talents in meaningful ways, participate in activities that serve others and your higher self, and compensation becomes a byproduct of personal reward and satisfaction. Many people are fortunate enough to work in situations that inspire passion and growth in themselves and others. Learn what makes your heart sing and pursue it relentlessly”

“This depends on your definition of the “Dream Job.” If you mean perfect in every way, obviously no one has this type of job. However, if you mean a job that has its hiccups along the way, but offers job satisfaction, self-fulfilment, the opportunity for advancement, the potential for increasing salary–the “Dream Job” certainly exists. My father once told me he had the best job in the world. He was teaching at a renowned university. He loved teaching. But he was also doing research and grant writing, and bringing in a lot of money for the university. He had the freedom to coach my baseball teams and attend any of our games. The money wasn’t great, but that increased over time. With realistic expectations, the “Dream Job” exists. It is not perfect, just as dreams are not perfect. I suppose a job without its problems would be boring and lack challenge”

“Absolutely!!!! It is when your passion, lifestyle, and abilities come together. I happen to have had several dream jobs”

“I had the pleasure some years ago to be driven at high speed around a race track by a professional racing driver. Talking to him afterwards I said that he must have found his “dream job” or words to that effect. He replied “It’s not bad but I really wanted to be a porn star!” Some people are never happy – funny old world isn’t it!“

“NO! You can have a job you enjoy, however keep in mind that a job is a job. There are things that you are not in control of when it comes to a job like keeping it or the attitude of your superiors. I would say the best situation you can be in is if you work for yourself”

“The dream job is the one you really like to do, matching exactly with your competences, your capabilities and your expectation, the one where you will face challenges, bringing you from competence to excellence, the one where you can give the best you can do, source of blooming and happiness”

“No, there aren’t any dream jobs. There are jobs that you live to do, that you can’t wait to do. But even with that type of passion, every job has its negatives. Co-workers you don’t get along with, managers, who don’t see eye to eye with you, too long hours, too little pay, and the possibility that your job will be eliminated or outsourced.  If you enjoy what you do and are eager to come to the office in the morning, that’s pretty special even if it’s not perfect”

“A dream always remains a dream. I wanted to be an artist but end up selling photo albums and in the printing industry. I have a dream about a girl I love when young, but gain it was a dream. Wild and silly dream like wanted to be John Travolta….but never happen….anyway, dreams keep me going”

“I think there are “dream roles” that you can envision as you grow and develop over your career. These tend to involve greater scope, stretching, and drawing on a different basket of skills that you want to strengthen. The goal is always elusive though, as you quickly grow into whatever dream role you eventually land, and it gets replaced with a new dream. To paraphrase Browning, a person’s reach should always exceed their grasp…I have had some amazing jobs but NEVER ONCE have I woken up first thing on a Monday wanting to do anything other than go back to sleep!”

“I think there are as many “dream jobs” as there are people in the world! I believe there are a lot of elements that come into play when somebody defines their dream job. They are in the right environment, with the right people, using the their strengths, compensating for weakness, doing the right things, achieving the right goals, etc… A seemingly simplistic view of a dream job might be when your life’s mission or purpose is fulfilled in the job you do. That’s certainly been the case for me and I am living my dream job!”

“Yes, Dream Jobs Do Exist! But the definition of a dream job is different for each one of us”

I understand where some of the previous responders are coming from, referring to the fact that a “job” can’t be compared to or labeled in the dream category. However, in the context of having a job, I have met many people who have described their experiences as “Dream Jobs.” There are people out there, my sister for instance, who are absolutely passionate about what they do and are living out their dream doing it – she is a Chief Nursing Officer and is dedicated to excellence in patient care and the professional development of nurses. This is not to say that dream jobs aren’t full of challenge and bad days. Most jobs are. Having a dream job does not mean your job is perfect. It just means it is exactly what you want to be doing, and for whatever reason, you find the ultimate satisfaction in doing it, whether this is through intrinsic rewards, professional or social benefits, monetary rewards, etc – you are living your dream job”

“Does a nightmare qualify as a dream??? I always try to keep in mind that any company with a career opportunity created that opportunity for a reason. The company more often than not is looking for some one to step up to a major challenge. If you are dreaming of being able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, then you can have your dream job”

“Sorry to put a bit of a damper on this discussion, but at some point those of us engaged in job search have to be realistic and make the best of what we can get”

“A dream job is just a job that you look forward to going to. A job that makes you happy, it doesn’t have to be something outlandish or farfetched. And as for dreams go, once those die then we’re going to have issues”

“Absolutely they exist! I have it – I LOVE going to work, love where I work and my job duties are well suited to my talents and personality! I encourage everyone to find this type of position where they are appreciated and can grow”

Unemployed U.S.-born workers seek day-labor jobs

January 15th, 2010

In the past seventy years, American’s have not seen a recession like the one that has been blowing over for the past three years. American’s are out of work, they lack what is needed to improve their lives, many have to go hungry each day, and several cannot afford to have themselves looked at when they get sick while others are in the process of losing their homes or have already lost their homes.

American’s who have found a job, are usually working for $8 an hour or lower which cannot feed a family in today’s world. Other American’s are waiting outside hardware stores or on street corners looking for work that might happen to come by. These jobs before the unemployment rate rose to 10.2 percent were usually taken by illegal immigrants and now American’s have to beg for a job as many homeless people have been doing for years.

American’s wait outside hardware shops and ask for work to complete strangers in hopes that they might find some fulltime work somewhere or at least something will last a few days to bring in some food or pay a bill. They look for landscaping jobs, lying down sod work, construction jobs and even mowing yards. All jobs you do not have to have a degree for which in this day in age most American’s cannot afford either.

Valenzuela estimates that the proportion of U.S. workers has doubled since the report he released back in 2006 which stated that 7 percent of day-labors were among the entire workforce. The unemployment rate is getting much worse but bills, insurances, taxes and many other things are just piling hire and many American’s cannot even breathe under the weight of it all. Though what is a person to do?

How about trying a new trade? Something that is exciting, will give you the money you need to make ends meet and then some. Why not try a trade that is up and coming and several people do not know about yet?

Know the Secrets in Creating the Best Job Descriptions

January 11th, 2010

If you are an employer who is trying to find an almost perfect employee, then you need to create the best job descriptions for them. As you notice, a job description not only explains what the employee’s roles and responsibilities will entail but it will also clarify those unique qualifications that you are seeking from an employee. By failing to create a job description and hap hazardously drafting a poor one, you’ll likely end up with unqualified candidates that will waste your precious time and hiring resources.

You should be able to learn how to write a job description that gets prospects motivated and interested in working for your company while carefully weaning out unqualified people. Brainstorm about the position and take some time to think about the skills and qualifications that your perfect employee would possess. For instance, would they be able to handle various tasks, be able to use certain software or office equipment, have specific training, skills or personality? Once you have the vision of the type of person you’re seeking, write down those qualifications on paper. Next, evaluate your list in terms of those skills which are in fact realistic. For instance, if you’re expecting someone to handle multiple tasks then are you willing to compensate them commensurate with their efforts? Good people will generally cost more money. It’s just a fact of life.

Consider your current and future hiring needs. For instance, if you plan on opening up a new position in the future and may need your new employee to travel or relocate, then make a note to include this in the description. It’s no good hiring an employee today, that can’t fit in with your plans for the company. Do a little market research to evaluate how other employers have written job descriptions. What type of terminology did they use? Were there descriptions clear and to the point? If you were an employee searching for a position, would you be interested in their position?

Next, start writing and craft your job description while being extremely detailed. For instance, include the expected performance, required skills, job duties, including all tasks, and many more. Also, make sure that you include a descriptive narrative on any additional shared job responsibilities and how you’ll evaluate, measure and reward performance. Be crystal clear about what you expect on a daily basis. For example, what specific tasks and responsibilities will the person need to be successful? Are you open to paying for training courses, if so, how much?

Do you require any specific licenses or degrees or work experience? Will you trade professional experience for these attributes? For instance, if the educational background is preferred then say so.

In conclusion, writing the best job description isn’t difficult but it requires a bit of thought and effort on your part. By visualizing your dream employee, being clear about your needs, conducting market research, writing a detailed description, you’ll find the perfect employee.
