Travel Nurse Jobs – What They Are All About

January 26th, 2010

Nurses are a highly respected and valuable asset to the medical community. There are a number of different exciting and rewarding nursing fields. One type of nurse that has become a popular career choice is the Travel Nurse. A travel nurse is a nurse that goes to various regions of the country, or internationally, to provide short term nursing support. Work environments can include hospitals, medical clinics, facility administration, medical rehabilitation, and more. Although these work assignments are short term, they are quite lucrative. Nurses are normally recruited to fill in for full time nurses on leave, on vacation, or to provide additional support during certain times of the year when there is an excessive work load.

Although a typical nursing assignment can range from days to months, it is usually about 13 weeks. The salary of a travel nurse will vary by experience and location of the assignment. A nurse will usually make about $25 – $35 per hour. Depending on the agency and employer, a nurse may be paid daily or hourly. As well, there will be a housing subsidy, compensation for travel expenses, and health insurance benefits. Those who choose a career as a Travel Nurse appreciate flexibility. One can work as much as they want and decide what type of work assignment they will accept. It is a great choice for new nursing graduates who want to travel and not be tied down to one work place.

Experience is a plus as employers want the nurse to be able to perform all tasks competently on the first day of the assignment. Joining an agency that matches nurses with short-term positions is essential to becoming a travel nurse. Agencies assist employers in most regions of the country with filling their short-term job positions. When a medical facility has a job opening, they will contact the agency. They will then match the job requirements with the candidate. The agency will arrange the interview, and once the nurse is hired, the recruiter will help with the travel arrangements, housing, and acquire the temporary state license. Registered nurses will benefit because their national board exam covers state requirements. The recruiter will receive a fee for their work. Sometimes a medical facility will try to recruit the travel nurse for a full time position if they have an opening and are happy with their work. There are hundreds of agencies that focus on placing travel nurses. Agencies will vary in their representation of employers, assignments, and locations. As well, there are travel nursing agencies that offer free education courses so nurses can stay up-to-date on nursing education and medical technologies.

When you have a career as a travel nurse, you have to maintain a current resume and travel plan. This includes keeping a ‘travel list’ such as important documents, travel papers…etc. Prior to travel, one should carefully check out the work destination such as the community, proximity to supermarkets, retail stores, and restaurants, and any personal safety issues…etc. A nurse should arrive a few days prior to starting the assignment to unpack and settle. The life of a travel nurse is exciting, educational, flexible, and very lucrative. It is a great career choice for those who enjoy helping people while experiencing new places and people.

The best travel nurse jobs can provide rewarding experience and exciting career opportunities in the medical field. Alternatively, your transferable skills are also applicable to numerous occupational therapy jobs.Article Source:http://www.articlesbase.com/careers-articles/travel-nurse-jobs-what-they-are-all-about-1782811.html

What is Resumix and How do I Use It?

January 16th, 2010

Agencies such as the Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force, and the Department of Commerce now rely on a resume system known as Resumix to aid in the hiring process. The implementation of this system was done to help ease the recruitment process on both the recruit and the recruiter side. A Resumix resume is much different than that of a traditional resume in regards to the layout as the Resumix resume will later be scanned instead of reviewed by a person and the scanning software will only be looking for certain keywords and phrases.

Resumix resumes are submitted online and kept in a database regardless of whether or not they contain the proper information. However, if you do submit a Resumix resume that is not properly formatted it will never see the light of day or be reviewed.

To take advantage of the Resumix resume program you need to use an online resume builder to submit your information and thus create a Resumix resume. This process actually eliminates the need for KSAs to be submitted in some, but not all, circumstances. The nice thing about having your Resumix resume stored is that you can apply for multiple positions using the same resume by utilizing a self-nomination process.

Resumix will automatically match the skills you have listed with the skills that are required form a certain posting so it is of utmost importance that your Resumix resume contains all the relevant information and keywords. For this reason it is best to spell out certain skills and don’t get too simple or complex with any verbiage.

Now here’s the trick; you have to write your Resumix resume so that it will first catch the attention of the computer scanning software, but it must also be written so that a person can understand it. This is because the Resumix system only eliminates human interaction at the first level and once a resume is flagged for review, it is an actual person who will be conducting the review before an interview is granted. This can be easier said than done, but fortunately there are a number of services online today that offer Resumix resume help.

Obtaining help from a professional may be a route you want to consider as you will want to make sure that you have a well written Resumix resume that can appeal to the scanning software and the reviewer as well, but more than that there are certain rules for Resumix resumes depending on what agency you wish to apply for. For example the Navy Resumix will allow you to submit five pages, but the Army Resumix will only allow you to submit three. Here again, if you don’t do it right, you don’t stand a chance.

While it was designed to both streamline and ease the hiring process, Resumix can be somewhat confusing. Working with a professional Resumix resume writer can help you to ensure that the resume you submit will not only be accepted, but also viewed; hopefully multiple times.

How to Find Resume Distribution Reviews

January 2nd, 2010

If you’ve ever been in the job market before, you know how important effectively distributing your resume is to the success of your job search. Regardless of how well written your resume is, if nobody see it, you won’t get the job.

Resume distribution seems fairly easy to accomplish. You upload your resume to company websites, post it on craigslist, and maybe create a profile on Monster.com. Surely that’s good enough for employers to find you, right? But the truth of the matter is that resume distribution is an art and a science. Many job opportunities are never posted to the public, instead employers prefer to let recruiters do the work of screening applicants. The employers workload is greatly reduced, since only the best candidates will be delivered by the recruiter. Resume distribution services send your resume, among other places, to recruiters specializing in your field

If you’re serious about finding a job – and a good one, hiring a resume distribution service is a great way to go. The potential of landing that dream job in a competitive market is well worth the investment. But how do you know if you’re working with a truly great resume distribution service and not just a scam website designed to lighten your wallet?

Finding a good resume distribution service is easier than you think. There are many resume distribution services out there and with the help of the internet, email, and fax, you aren’t limited to working with resume distribution services in your area. But how do you know which ones are the best? Customer reviews are the way to go.

So how do you find reviews of resume distribution services? Here are a few tips:

1. Google it. The internet is used for everything these days, and finding a reputable resume distribution service is much easier now as a result . Type ‘resume distribution reviews’ into Google and you’ll get thousands of results. It can be a little overwhelming. But a good resume posting service should clearly state on their website what their qualifications are, how the process works, what it costs, and the results you can expect. Better yet, look for a resume posting service that has testimonials from satisfied customers proudly displayed on their website. Customer satisfaction is always a good thing.

2. Forums. On the ubiquitous World Wide Web, there are forums where users discuss just about everything under the sun. Look around for job search forums in which resume distribution services are the topic to see which firms come up the most and what experiences others have had with that firm.

3. Word of Mouth. Depending on the industry you’re in, you probably have friends and colleagues that have used a resume posting service before. Ask around to see which services your friends and colleagues have used before and what their experiences have been. Get contact information for promising services so that you can explore them further.

4. Social Media. Social media websites are so much more than virtual high school reunions these days. They’ve become business tools for many companies and industries. Look around on Facebook or other popular social media websites to see which resume posting services have ‘fan’ pages or groups associated with their business. Clients and customers of those businesses often have the opportunity to leave feedback and testimonials on their page. If one firm has had glowing reviews from its clients, give them a call and get the process started.

Obviously, a resume distribution service can’t guarantee that you’ll get the job. But they know all of the inside tips and tricks of getting your resume into the hands of people that matter. A great resume posting service is one that has a track record of getting people interviews. When looking for resume distribution reviews, go with the one that can help you close the deal.

How to land a sales rep job in the hospitality business

December 31st, 2009

You can get started in the hotel business fairly easily if you have a professional image and a pleasant personality. Entry level sales rep jobs in hospitality start around fifty thousand and peak at about 100 thousand.  But you can make more after a short time and advance to Sales Director Positions and General Manager Positions.

First of all, make your resume very sales oriented.  Use key phrases like “exceeded montlhy sales goals by 15%, or upsold customers and generated $25,000 worth of revenue on a monthly basis.  Exceeded budget by 12% year over year.

Be sure and understand the business before you apply for the job.  The best site to learn about hotel sales and what the job entails is www.aprinda.com

Once you understand the Group Segments, maximizing revenue, revpar, negotiating volume accounts, demand generators, and so on…..you are ready to contact the hotel for an interview.

Go to hcareers.com or indeed.com and search for hotel sales manager jobs.  I would suggest calling the director of sales and set up an interview.  Skip the HR departments….they only look for people with previous hotel sales experience.

You may have to call a few times to land the interview.  If you took an on-line sales certificate program from ecornell.com or www.aprinda.com    be sure and list that experience at the top of your resume.  That certificate will catch their eye.  And as a reminder, try and avoid HR for the first interview….they don’t know what to look for in a sales person.  Go straight to the Director of Sales.

Hotels hate to train sales people, go the the interview prepared.  Good luck.  Hotel sales rep jobs are the best, you will enjoy your career and advance quickly.

The Benefits of Using Marketing Recruiters

December 18th, 2009

As a result of the economic crisis and corporate downsizing, employers have become more particular than ever in the hiring process. To ensure that your resume and cover letter accurately represent you in order to land a fitting executive marketing position, you may want to consider using the services of marketing recruiters.

Marketing recruiters match executives in transition with jobs that meet their career goals, and experience. Best of all, specialized marketing recruiters have an extensive background in marketing and cater solely to executives searching for job opportunities in marketing and marketing communications. As such, when job seekers use the services of a marketing recruitment firm during their executive job search, they get access to an extensive database of highly targeted job leads.

How It Works

Prior to initiating the recruitment process, marketing recruiters will interview you to determine what your background, goals, and requirements are. Furthermore, the recruiters will make sure that your portfolio and resume are strong and representative of your job experience and skill set. They will give you access to a list of job leads that is updated on a regular basis. If you decide to apply for any of the jobs listed, the recruiters will give you details about the company and position before your first interaction, ensuring that your interview runs smoothly.

If you conduct your executive job search with a recruiter that provides job leads on a national scale, you will get access to an extensive number of high quality job listings. On the other hand, if you conduct your job search on your own, you will have to weed through a lot of rubbish to find job leads that are actually relevant to your area of expertise and not a waste of your time. A recruitment firm makes it easier for you to find opportunities that contribute to your professional growth while saving you time.

Marketing recruiters make it easier for you to find jobs that meet your specific objectives while providing companies with highly qualified applicants. Reputable recruiters don’t just hand employers a pile of resumes to sift through. They take the time to hand pick a candidate whom they feel is well suited for the job. Recruiters that can consistently provide companies with highly qualified candidates typically charge the companies and not the candidates.

Are you feeling like you hit a brick wall in the executive job search? If you’re looking for a fast, thorough, and free way to find executive marketing positions that will help you meet your career objectives, consider using the services of a recruiter. Not only could a recruiter help you locate opportunities for professional growth, a recruiter can provide you with the tools and information you need to beat out your competitors and obtain a position with which you’re completely satisfied.
